The MGS debating team has emerged champions in the national
level TAN SRI DATUK WIRA ABDUL RAHMAN ARSHAD CHALLENGE TROPHY PARLIAMENTARY
STYLE ENGLISH LANGUAGE DEBATE 2014 which was held from the 22nd
September to 24th September in Kingwood Hotel Sibu, Sarawak.
The team that comprises of Lahvaniya Dhamodaran, Tan Yik Chi,
Heidi Bt Mohd Rafique, Karyshma Gill (Best Speaker for all 5 rounds!) Ratchanah
a/p Vejayan and Mr. Mohana Ram and Pn. Zashaslin Chiang as teacher advisors created history when they
defeated SMK Bukit Jambul from Penang in the finals. The topic for the finals
was ‘THIS HOUSE BELIEVES THAT SMARTPHONES ARE A MAJOR CONTRIBUTOR TO CREATING
AUTISTIC CHILDREN’. MGS Ipoh was the opposition while SMK Bukit Jambul from
Penang was the proposing team.
This is the first time MGS Ipoh became champions in the
Datuk Wira Parliamentary Style English Language Debate. Congratulations!
